Wedding Themes Suggestions

Some couples are all ready and excited to get hitched. However, when asked about themes, they probably don’t know what to answer. Weddings these days have so many ideas for themes for both the ceremony and reception, as a way of spicing up the wedding and making it beautiful in pictures and in the memory. Since some people may not be knowledgeable on the various wedding themes, this article will list among the most common.
Formal/traditional – We all know what this is. This is black tie in the United States and other countries, while it involves the Barong and traditional wedding dresses here. Table settings for the reception will be a posh formal dinner, and you would be in classy restaurant for that.
Romantic – This is marked by soft colors and hues, lots of flowers and delicate lighting. An example of this would have a flower wall, hanging lights and pastel colors. Even candles at the couple’s reception table would do. Of course, there are many ways to give the romantic theme a different touch.

Vintage – This has retro motifs and decorations, even clothes. You could wear something from the old days, such as a maria clara for the bride and barong with salakot (pointed hat) for the groom. They could even dress up as Bonnie and Clyde (with fake Thompson machine guns). You could also choose a place with that feel, something that looks set in the 18th century or other period. Even your wedding car could be a vintage model from the 50s or 60s. Of course, make sure the time period is consistent, so don’t wear a maria clara for a 50s theme.

Modern – Look up modernist architecture and colors. A good example would be Piet Mondrian wall patterns and sculptures with odd geometric shapes. This would mostly be used in the venue theme and decors. Modern looks actually start in the 50s, so it can be considered a vintage theme of sorts.

Rustic – Country-style weddings are a rage for some people. You can set it in a barn, dress in cowboy-style outfits, have mason jars or wooden mugs as drinking glasses, have some hay around, and more. You could also have a Southern American motif to it.

Garden Party – This is a very simple and natural theme. You could set it up in a backyard garden or any garden venue. The reception would be like an afternoon tea party, and it should have a laid-back feel.

Bohemian/boho – This had been popular because of its perceived inexpensiveness. Brides would wear light or gypsy dresses and shawls, there would be rugs all over and lots of wood and peasant decorations. It would have a hipsterish feel, although it should feel like you’re in a peasant country scene.

Beach or Nautical – This can include anything marine in nature. You can actually be at the beach or set up the place to be like it. You can have shells, starfishes, fish and more. Nautical would mean blue and white, life preservers, harpoons, ropes, and of course, boats! A tropical theme is also more associated with the beach, with palm trees, beach umbrellas, and others.

Eco-Friendly – This is a recent thing, with all the “eco-friendly” label scattered on so many products. But it doesn’t need to be pretentious. Invitations can be printed on recycled paper or rough parchment, you can give away plants or have them on your tables, and of course, ask guests to not smoke. The venue can also be outdoor to cut down on air-conditioning (when it’s cool, of course), which saves energy.
Music – Any wedding could have music, but having musical note decors, guitars and other motifs around help mark a musical couple. This can do especially when one or both of the couple are musicians or performers. You could also have the motifs of the music subculture, such as rock, new wave, jazz, ethnic, reggae, goth and others.
Celestial – Stars, the moon, and sky colors can add a unique touch to your wedding theme. You can have the zodiac if you want, although the idea is to make the wedding look “stellar.”
Travel – This is becoming a popular theme these days. Have posters or pictures of destinations, invitations shaped like passports or plane tickets, airplane or ship decors, and more. It could even include a slide show of places the couple has been to.

These are actually only a few of the many themes you could try. Look up more on the Internet, or try to invent your own. The possibilities are endless
