A kilo of Rice for a Cause

We all know how great it feels to receive gifts. However, the joy of getting is short-lived. Our lives are richer when we share, and that great inner joy comes from helping others to better their lives. Truly giving from the heart fills your life with joy and nourishes your soul. Giving provides an intrinsic reward that’s far more valuable than the gift. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “To find yourself, lose yourself in the service of others.”

As the number of cases for COVID-19 has soared, so have the needs of many. The pandemic has affected our everyday lives and even if we don’t admit it, one thing’s for sure: life was never the same like before. Companies are now forced to have cost cutting with their plantillas and some have policies of no work no pay. This situation has forced people to stay indoors and making them a little short on the dough. You can see on the news that majority of Filipinos are worrying how they will survive day by day until this pandemic ends.

Jardin de Miramar took the opportunity and launched ‘A KILO FOR A CAUSE’. This was to promote the fight against COVID-19 by creating a more resilient community in Brgy. San Isidro in Antipolo. For every donation amount that a donor makes, Jardin de Miramar doubles up and match the donations. All donations are repacked and divided equally to all targeted communities.

On April 22nd, (the last day of giving) we showed our care for the community yet again and gave rice for the second batch to 347 families. People from the vicinity has received equally packed amounts. But this wasn’t the first time; the first batch of donations were given away to 251 families on March 25, 2020.

We would like to thank the people who donated and shared their blessing and made A KILO FOR A CAUSE to be a success. We saw smiles and we saw hope from people who have received the packs of rice. What we want is for food to be one less worry of vulnerable families against COVID-19.
